Raise the Roof

Over 350 performers aim to “Raise The Roof” at the Mayor’s Charity Concert with all of them performing in a grand finale that includes the Alleluia Chorus and the ever popular ballad “You raise me up”. The music on offer covers a range to suit all tastes, and will be performed by seven local vocal groups, supported by dancers, a brass band, and a trumpet soloist.
The concert to be held in All Saints Church on Sunday May 13th at 6:30 pm aims to support the Mayor’s three chosen charities – The Blackthorn Trust, Kent Lung Awareness and The Maidstone Sea Cadets as well as All Saints Restoration Fund. Tickets are priced at £8 for an adult ticket, £4 for students under 18, and £2 for children.
The concert marks the end of a successful mayoral year, and not only seeks to ensure that important local charities are supported but is a celebration of Maidstone’s musical talent. It is rare that a concert brings together so many different groups to provide a feast of instrumental , vocal and dance performances. The Mayor, Councillor Malcolm Greer said “It has been an honour for my wife and I to experience first hand the wonderful work that goes on in our Maidstone community, and I can think of no better way to mark the end of my Mayoral year than a concert which will be an occasion not to be missed, that supports organisations that contribute much to our community and also celebrates the great talent that exists in Maidstone”
The concert is being organised by Maidstone Area Arts Partnership, and Kathryn Ridgeway is the Artistic Director. Tickets are available by phone on 01634 388123 or online at http://raise-the-roof-130518.eventbrite.com?s=83711271
